Dear Readers,

Wasshoi! is a growing project dedicated to sharing engaging and high-quality content related to Japanese studies. Our goal is to combine the clarity and accessibility of popular publications with the depth and rigor of academic work – and we’d love for you to be part of it!

We’re always excited to discover fresh, original perspectives on Japan. Whether you're developing an idea, exploring a topic you’re passionate about, or testing your voice before submitting to academic journals, Wasshoi! is a welcoming space to do so. With guidance from our editorial team along the way.

Our magazine brings together a wide range of content. From articles and reviews to photo essays, short stories, opinion pieces, and more. So feel free to choose the format that suits you best and submit to info@wasshoimagazine.org:

• an abstract (up to 200 words), and

• a short personal bio (up to 150 words)

Be sure to check our writing guidelines (see below) before submitting.

We carefully read every submission and will get back to everyone with feedback. We can’t wait to read your ideas and discover new insights into Japan together.
